Mercedes-Benz X-Class Get An Exterior Upgrade

A Mercedes-Benz X-Class straight from the factory is already a looker compared to other pickups out there, but Prior Design thinks it could use a few visual upgrades to make it even more appealing.

There are two widebody kits, called the PD400 and PD500, one was designed to make the X-Class more off-road friendly while the other was geared towards urban drivers. Both variations feature a set of bespoke, black lightweight forged alloys wheels, which are available in 18-23 inches. At the front is where they differ.

The PD400 seems to be sporting new matte black and black plastic details, with round-shaped fog lights and some BFGoodrich all-terrain tires. A more rugged look compared to the PD500’s more aggressive air intakes and thin LED strips in place of fog lights. CarScoops says the grille has been tweaked as well and instead of the three pronged star, it has been replaced by Prior Design’s own logo.

Even the interior has been upgraded to include Alcantara upholstery with contrast stitching and the tuner’s logo can be added steering wheel and headrests.

Though nothing under the bonnet has been changed, there are options to modify how the X-Xlass drives with optional aftermarket suspensions and exhaust systems. They can even paint or wrap the pickup to better reflect the owner’s personality.

As much as I like this what we need to see more of is an off-road theme similar to what you would find on the Wrangler and even the G-Class 4x4. Part of the market will be buyer that want an off roader with swag and Mercedes is one of the few car makers that can do it.

That's a great idea. I've always thought that the production model is lacking these small details and finishes that make a Mercedes a premium car.

The X-Class wasn't designed to follow in the Wrangler's footsteps and the sheer amount of mods needed to do so will be so costly, you may as well get a Wrangler as a secondary car to bash against the rocks.

I do have to say, the new lower air intake upgrade with LED strips looks a lot better than what's offered from factory. Most of what we see are aesthetic upgrades aside from the bash plates and BFGoodrich all-terrain tires.

It sure wasn't but given its Nissan Narava DNA along with the fact this will benefit sales quite a bit, its a route that Mercedes should choose. Fortunately being Merecdes they have the money to throw around much like how they have for products no one asked for but ended up loving.

Its not an official update but one from the aftermarket. I was hoping to see more from Mercedes but that seems unlikely.
