I am installing some additional LED spotlights as the standard lights are useless. Before I spend a few hours looking for wiring diagrams and testing does anyone know the best place to pick up a connection the to existing high beam to activate the relay for the new spots?

Been looking for the same answer, and it looks like the LED headlights don’t have a standard connection you can run a 12V relay off.

Instead, you need something that pulls data from the CAN and outputs a relay-compatible signal. Something you’ll need to buy, unfortunately.

We’re going to try this one which appears compatible with the X Class (or perhaps the fancier version that includes a reverse gear relay for a reversing light and beeper): CANM8 C8NECTHIGHBEAM CANNECT High Beam Signal Output Interface

I have come to the same conclusion and have been looking into can bus modules. I haven’t had time to take the car apart and find a suitable connection into the can bus network but will post when I have more information

From some quick research online, we’re expecting to find CAN hi/lo wires we can tap into just behind the OBD-II port (under the steering wheel/above the pedals). Not the easiest place to tap in, but we’ll have a switch for the lights near there anyway, and have already been through the firewall for some other installs. Apparently more detailed installation instructions come with the device, but it would be nice to know what we’re in for…!

First of all, you need to turn to qualified specialists for help. Never trust your car with people who do not understand the basic characteristics. Unfortunately, this may end up with a new breakdown for you. I faced the same problem two weeks ago and also additionally ordered a High Lumen Avant LED Tactical Flashlight. It is the main accessory in my work field. Btw, many people are now installing LED headlights on their cars. This model is capable of producing a bright and saturated color. However, this option is not cheap. How do you feel about it?
